2008 was an ok year, not as good as we would have liked, but ok. We had a nice litter of Sunglow Boas, very good quality Sunglows and Albinos, good percentages. We had a few girls that did not take, a few that slugged out. That's Boas for you!
We did ok on Ball pythons with four clutches so far, some nice Spiders, still waiting on three clutches incubating. We also produced about 30-32 Leopard Gecko babies that we were pleased with, being our first year even owning Leos. We had relativly good sales of everything we made available for sale. Best of all, we were able to add new morphs to the collection!
We're very excited about 2009 and all that it holds for us at SSSCALES. It's going to be a good year for us with many new morphs, as well as continued work with Ball pythons! We're extremely excited about being able to produce some beautiful snakes for ourselves and others to enjoy. _____________________________________________________________________________
Sunglow & Albino Boas: We expect to produce another nice litter of Sunglows and Albinos from an Albino X DH Sunglow pairing. We're raising up a few hand picked Sunglow males & DH Sunglow females that will be ready for 2009/2010 season.
Ghost & Anery Boas: We're hoping to pair our best Hypo Het Anery (DHet Ghost) male to one of our largest/nicest Anery females. She also happens to be 66% Possible Het Albino (Het Snow). Hopefully we'll see some super nice Ghosts, DHet GHosts, Aneries and Het Aneries. Our DHet Ghost sired one of our 2006 litters that also happened to produce a single T+ Albino. We have high hopes for this pairing, and hope to see great things come from this one! We also have two large 06' Hypo Pastels Pos Het Ghosts that are growing nicely and may make the roster!
Poss Snow & Anery Boas: We've also got lined up a Anery 66% DHet Snow paired with an Anery 66% Poss Dhet Snow or Albino male. This unrelated pair will hopefully prove out to be actual Het Albinos and produce a few Snows for us in 2009, or maybe a few Albino Het Snows! Hopefully the forecast will call for Snow in Florida!
Motley Boas: This is one we have been waiting on for a long time! Our early 2006 Motley male has was not ready for 2007/2008, but at 5ft+ and 2.5yrs of age he is surely ready for 2009! We're planning to pair him up with either a nice/dripping with red Hypo Pastel or DH Sunglow female! Our Motley was purchased from Bill Kirby and we could not be more pleased! We are thrilled to be working with the Motley Boa, which is a must have for any collection or breeder. We expect great things with Motleys as we have just begun to scratch the surface with Motleys and Super Motley combos!
Salmon & Hypo Boas: We also have a number of Salmon and Hypo pairings for our 2009 line up. We are working with a couple nice Rich Isle Possible Super Salmons and hope to prove some out! We also have a few Hypos that we will be working with paired up with Pastels, as well as a Hog Island Boa for Salmon Hogs. Hopefully we will produce some nice Salmon Hogs and produce some Sunset Boas down the road. A nice Salmon or Hypo is a must have and a staple for any Boa collection!
T+ Albino: As most may know, we produced a litter in 5/11/06 from our DH Ghost male X Pastel female. Produced in that litter, was 8-Hypo Pastels, 13-Classic/Pastels and 1-T+ Albino, all 50% Possible Het Anery. We managed to hold back 2.5-Hypo Pastels, 1.2-Pastels and of course, 0.1-T+ Albino from that litter! These have been growing nice and steady, and they are already between 4.5ft to 5.5ft. We're hoping to possibly be able to breed these in 2009/2010! We look forward to see if anything special pops out of one or more of these litters! The T+ female will not be bred till 12/2010.
Motley Combos: We also hope to be producing in 2009-2010 a variety of Motley combos, such as Albino Motleys, Salmon Motleys, Motleys Dhet Ghost, Motleys DHet Sunglows and other exciting morphs! _____________________________________________________________________________
Mojave: We hope to have a few clutches of Mojaves on the ground for 2008-2009. We have a nice bright, high yellow Mojave male and plan to breed him to some nice light colored females. Unfortunately, we will be holding back most our Mojave females, but should have some available males. We plan to work the Mojave into a number of combos in the next couple years including Mojave X Mojave, Pastel X Mojave and others!
Lesser: We also plan to work with Lessers and Lesser combos. The Super form of Lesser is considered to be one of the whitest Ball python out today. We will be holding back most our Lesser females, but should have a few males available! Lesser Bees, KingPins, etc, etc!
Pastel: We are currently working with Nerd Lemon Pastels and expect to produce a few clutches in 2008/2009. We should have a few males for sale, but again plan on holding back most females. Pastels are great on there own, but also produce some amazing snakes when bred in combination with other morphs!
Spider: We will be producing very few Spiders and only expect 1-2 clutches in 2008. We will not be offering many for sale due to our concerns with any Spinning/Wobbling associated with Spiders. Our male Spider has yet to show any signs of spinning, but to be on the safe side we will not be selling many or any Spiders until we evaluate our stock and offspring. Our initial plans for our Spiders are to be used in combos such as with Pastels for Bees, Axanthics and other morphs where hopefully any issues will be eliminated or minimized. Regardless, if you are in the market for a Spider. Please read up on the risks and possibility of "Spinning" in this morph and buyers beware. Feel free to email us for information on Spinning.
Albino: We have some 06 Albinos that are doing great, as well as a few 05/06 100% Het Albino females which we purchased in 2006/2007. Some of these girls may or may not be where we want them to be weight wise this season. These girls have been feeding well, but all went off feed in Feb 2007, and snapped out of it in July. We're still crossing our fingers for some Albinos next year! If we are successful this season with these girls, we will be holding back most our Albino females, but will have 100% Het pairs available.
Cinnamon Pastel: We have acquired a super nice Cinny male with lots of purples and an added possible bonus! We hope to produce a few clutches next year from this male bred to various females. Cinny's are a key ingredient to producing such amazing combos as Pewters, Silver Bullets and other out of this world combo/designer morphs yet to be produced. The Super Cinnamon, Cinny X Cinny bred together, can produce a solid black snake with a white belly! We look forward to pairing this boy with some nice Pastels and a gorgeous Albino for 2009!
Classic/Normal: We were very fortunate enough to have purchased a good number of 100% Captive Born & Bred female Ball pythons throughout 2006. Our stock of females has been a joy to own from day one and were a deciding factor for us to continue to expand our Ball python collection! More than likely we will wholesale lots of all of our normal Ball pythons! If you are interested, please contact us early in the season as we expect to have quite a few from our co-dom pairings!
Pinstripe: We changed our original plans of purchasing a male Pinstripe to produce more Pins for starters, and have acquired a couple nice early 2007 Pinstripe females! These females will focus on producing designer morphs such as Lemons Blast, Super Blasts, Pinstripes Het Albino, etc. Our females are early 2007's and feeding like it's going out of style! We're hoping to have these girls paired up with some interesting males by next season!
Piebald: We have a couple 100% Het Pied females that we acquired in 2007 and a nice 50/50 white male Pied in 2008. Our Het females have also been sporadic feeders, but with a bit of luck we expect to be breeding Pied X Hets early/mid 2009! Pieds are still one of our favorite Ball python morphs and still warrants a double take!
Caramel Albino: We added some Het Caramel Albino females in 2007, and we'll be on the look out for a Caramel Albino male by year end or next year.
Clowns: We also decided to add a few Het Clown females to the line up in early 2008 after seeing the Pastel Clowns and Super Pastel Clowns!
